At Wafi Gourmet visitors to the Wafi City Shopping Centre can find a rich variety of Middle Eastern produce and cuisine and buy authentic gifts at reasonable prices.
Sometimes described as a Lebanese food outlet, Wafi Gourmet, in the Wafi City shopping mall in Dubai, in fact offers a rich variety of tempting products from throughout the Middle East. Visitors will be astonished by the range and abundance of food on offer.
Wafi Gourmet does not simply offer dates for sale. It offers sixteen different kinds of date, including dates stuffed with pistachio, almonds or cashews. It does not simply offer olives. It offers seventeen different kinds of olive presented in large, filled to the brim, wooden barrels.
Benches are laden with mountains of dragon fruit, avocadoes, oranges, lemons, limes, asparagus, tomatoes, artichokes, bananas, chillies, cucumbers, pears, beans, snow peas, courgettes, cauliflower, and eggplants, as well as strangely shaped fruit and vegetables unrecognisable to Western eyes.
In the spice section, trays, sacks and barrels of spices from throughout the Middle East and beyond send their aromas wafting through the store.
The most tempting part of Wafi Gourmet is its sweet section. Here you will find:
- seventeen different kinds of glacé fruit
- fourteen different kinds of nougat
- Lebanese and Arabian delicacies such as baklava and ladies’ fingers, stuffed with walnuts, pistachio, almonds, pine nuts, prunes or chocolate
- chocolate truffles: brown chocolate, white chocolate and even truffles in the shape of pine cones
- marzipan lollies in the shape and colour of lemons, limes, carrots, oranges, cherries, bananas and apricots
- cakes such as éclairs and French tarts.
Also on offer is a wide range of ready made salads, dips, spreads, seafood, dried fruit, nuts, prepared rice dishes, tabouli, samosas, pasta and chicken dishes.
Wafi Gourmet is a great place to stock up for a day trip from Dubai or a picnic at Dubai Creek Park nearby. And, as an added benefit, while wandering around, you will find yourself continually invited to try samples of the produce for free.
Wafi Gourmet Restaurant
Attached to the delicatessen is a café style restaurant. You can watch your choice of food being prepared on kitchen stations scattered throughout the store, and then enjoy your meal in the dining area or, in the cooler months, on an outside balcony eating area.
Gifts
A wide range of sample packs of dates, sweets and other items are on sale at Wafi Gourmet, with the mixed sampler packs especially popular. These come in varying sizes at very reasonable prices and make interesting gifts of authentic Middle Eastern origin for family and friends back home.
