Dubai's Tallest Sail - the Burj al Arab HotelThe Palace Hotel that Arranges Everything from Butlers to SubmarinesAt over 1000 feet tall the ultimate in luxury hotels dominates the Arabian Gulf, just off the coast of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
The Burj al Arab, translated, Tower of the Arabs, has received earth wide recognition for being not only one of the most prestigious hotels in the world, but also one of the most amazing architectural structures ever created. It has been referred to as the only 7-star hotel in the world. It resembles the sail of a dhow, which is a typical Arabian sailing vessel. Two wings form the shape of a V that produces the mast; the space between them is filled with the world’s largest atrium. The fabric that is spread across to create the sail not only billows slightly in the wind, as a real sail would, but allows a soft, milky white light to enter the hotel during the day, protecting it from the hot sun. Luxury that Will Pamper any GuestThe inside, as well as the outside, are made from the finest of materials. The granite stone was brought in from Brazil, the marble and glass came from Italy, and only the finest linens from Ireland are used throughout. No expense was spared in creating the ultimate luxury getaway. The hotel boasts 162 one-bedroom, 28 two-bedroom, and six three-bedroom suites. These all come with incredible wall to wall views of the gulf and a number of high tech amenities, including a video monitoring system that allows you to watch your doorway, and open the door for invited guests, without ever leaving your bed. A private butler is assigned to each suite to make your stay hiccup free. For those who are looking for a little bit more, the two Grand Suites and the two Special Suites are the best the hotel has to offer. At 2340 square feet, each suite has two floors, connected by private elevators. They also contain private cinemas, private Mosques, and rotating beds! Rooms range in price from $1,500 USD to $6,000 USD per night. For those who wish to poke around, but can’t afford a night, a fee of around $50 USD is charged for entrance, and can be applied toward a dinner at one of the hotel’s fine restaurants. Dining at its Exotic BestThe Al-Mahara restaurant is accessible only by submarine, giving diners the chance to eat under the sea, in the presence of a shark filled aquarium. At the other end of the spectrum you can visit the Al-Muntaha restaurant, which is located at 600 feet above sea level. Other restaurants follow different themes, making each an excellent choice. The hotel also boasts its own spa complete with two swimming pools, two diving pools, hydrotherapy baths, oriental massage, 18 treatment rooms, steam rooms, and much more. Whether you have a day or a night to spare, this amazing hotel is something you have to see to believe.
